Saturday- the musical gauntlet!

Hi Everyone,

It’s been a great week and weekend filled with a lot of God moments happening in my life.  First of all- kudos to all who went to World Youth Day- what an incredible event to have over 1,000,000 Catholics assembled (most of them youth) to celebrate their faith and love in Jesus Christ!  WOW!  One of these days, I’m going to go to World Youth Day- maybe they’ll have one back in the United States again!  It would be great to take my whole family there.  Anyway, I’ve been praying for all you guys and gals- that the Holy Spirit touch your lives and give you many blessings in your journey with Christ during that week!

Well, anyway, back in the good ol’ state of Indiana, it has been quite busy for me!  A lot of singing, writing/composing (check back here for more on that as I’ll be posting mp3 clips of songs that will be in the new album!), praying, going to mass, adoration, family time- all good!  The day I want to talk about today was this past Saturday. You could call it the Music Gauntlet for me and here’s why…

8:30 AM – Pro-Life Mass at St. Michael’s on the west side of Indy
11:00 AM – Funeral at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the North Side (Keystone)
3:00 PM – Wedding at Immaculate Heart in downtown Indy
5:30 PM – Sing and Play at mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on 106 and Haverstick in Carmel

Ugh… I’m tired just typing all of that!  And I can truly tell you that my voice had a FULL Workout! :)

But it was all good- and for His Glory.

That day, I sang in respect for the sanctity of life, celebrated a life fully lived, rejoiced in the union of man and wife with Christ, and experienced the wonder and awe of receiving Life- receiving Christ in the Eucharist.  Sounds like a complete journey for me all in one day!

Micah 6:8 states: “You have been told, O man, what is good, and what the LORD requires of you: Only to do the right and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God.”

This passage of scripture resonated in my mind throughout that day, and through the gift of music that God gave me to share with others, I was able to transform those words from the prophet Micah into action.

And many times throughout my life, I find that God places situations in front of me where I can do the right, love goodness, and to walk humbly with Him, and yet, there are times where I try to find excuses not to do His will (I’m tired, exhausted, have no more energy, it’s not easy, I’m not qualified, etc.  – can you say the “Jonah Syndrome” ?!  But He continues to challenge us every day.  How do we respond?  Is Micah 6:8 part of our mission statement in life?

I remember this quote which heard from a past Cursillo weekend that I took part in:  ”God does not call the qualified… He qualifies the called…”

God bless you all and have a great week!
